Some friends from work and I rented out our local track - !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! - yesterday and went to work tearing it up. It rained early and then was overcast, !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! , but it was completely dry by lunch. Four of the guys were newbies, so the first time out we all piled into a few cars and showed them the line and places to be careful. Second time out, we rode along with them to help get them comfortable and up to speed. After that, it was on. We split into two groups, and went back and forth at 15 minutes per session. My last session was my fastest, and I ended up taking off 4 seconds from my best lap from a month ago - pretty happy with with.

Because it was the middle of the week, it only ended up costing each of us $250. Probably my last time out this year; can't wait to get back out there in the spring.

I really need to go to Hallett. It's not far from here. Not sure how much fun the Sonic would be on a real track though...definitely taking a Corvette once I get one

YES YOU DO.
I took my Mazda 3s hatch back in the day to one of their HST events. I was probably the slowest one out there, but I had a hell of a lot of fun. It's a tight track, so it favors cars that can carry speed in the corners.

That looks like a pretty sweet track.

It really is great, and they just repaved most of it this year. Just an hour from my house!

My closest is Sebring which I'm fairly certain has never been repaved ever. The final turn is pretty scary when you get onto the WWII era bumpy stuff.

So it was under $2,000 to rent the whole track for the day?
Bless your heads... My local track is Road America, and I know how much my friends pay who host a track day.

We already have to convoy down to the new track at the National Corvette Museum next summer... I'm excited to go to the track, just not for that drive.

Thought I had see your instrument panel before. C6 ZR1 looks very much like your C5

Dat BOOST gauge tho!
Seriously, I didn't realize they kept the cluster so similar for the C6. I guess if it ain't broke!

Awesome! I took the E46 to the Hockenheimring this weekend. I love these cars. I'll be uploading pics and write up soon.

Looking forward to it! How does your best lap compare with Sport Auto's? =)

I wish I knew! Sport Auto uses the small loop (gray line) and we were on the full track. My best time there was 2:12 in heavy traffic. There were around 70 cars per run group. Crazy.

70?! Holy crap... I don't think I'd be brave enough to get out with that much traffic.
Very cool that you got to be on the long course.
